Duffield Engineering Postering Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to the posting of flyers, posters, and other materials in public spaces within Duffield Engineering. All posted materials must comply with Cornell’s Expressive Activity Policy, University Policy 4.23. All community members should familiarize themselves with this policy.

  • Procedures

    • Posters and flyers must not be affixed to surfaces other than publicly available bulletin boards.
    • Materials of any nature posted in locations other than publicly available bulletin boards are subject to immediate removal.
    • Posters can only be removed by the original poster or by college and departmental staff members, who must remove them in a manner consistent with these guidelines and University Policy 4.23.
    • Any materials removed for policy or guideline violations should be immediately reported to the Office of Marketing and Communications.
    • To ensure continued access for expressive display, staff may remove any posters after two weeks to make room for future posters. Posters may be removed sooner if they advertise an event on a certain date that has passed. If the date of the posting is not clear or provided, staff may use their best judgment to determine if a poster can be removed.
  • Poster Requirements

    • Posters must comply with University Policy 4.23.
    • Posters must be created and posted by Cornell community members.
    • Posters cannot exceed 187 square inches (11″ x 17″).
    • Posters must be posted in designated/allowable locations.
    • Posters must only be affixed with thumbtacks or easily removable adhesives, such as blue painter’s tape.
    • Only one poster per subject or event may be posted on a given bulletin board.

  • Recommendations

    • Posters should clearly list the organization, unit, or individual sponsoring the event or message.
    • Posters should note the date posted.
