
Himani Mishra ’27, a rising senior in engineering physics and Hunter R. Rawlings III Cornell Presidential Research Scholar & Telluride Scholar, has been named a 2026 Microscopy & Microanalysis (M&M) Student Scholar by the Microanalysis Society (MAS), recognizing her paper, “Atomic-level, Depth-Resolved 3D Imaging of Voids with Electron Ptychography.”
The highly competitive award is granted to a select group of students from nearly 200 applicants worldwide. It includes complimentary registration to the organization’s annual meeting and up to $1,500 in travel support.
Mishra, who works in the lab of David A. Muller, the Samuel B. Eckert Professor of Engineering in the School of Applied and Engineering Physics and co-director of the Cornell Center for Materials Research, will be honored during the opening plenary session of the 2026 conference on Aug. 3. Awardees will also be recognized at additional conference events throughout the week.
This award recognizes Mishra’s innovative contributions to advanced electron imaging techniques and reflects the strength of Cornell’s research in microscopy and materials characterization.
