Irina Kopyeva, Ph.D., a postdoctoral researcher in the Fischbach Lab, has received a postdoctoral grant from the Weill Cornell Medicine Clinical and Translational Science Center to investigate how menopause influences breast adipose tissue remodeling and fibrosis, and how these changes may contribute to breast cancer development and progression.
As part of the award, Kopyeva will collaborate with Dr. Rulla Tamimi, Chief of the Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Population Health Sciences, and Jason Spector, M.D., FACS, of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine.
This project supports Duffield Engineering’s efforts to accelerate its Engineering Innovations in Medicine and Menopause Health Engineering initiatives, while strengthening a growing research focus on engineering solutions for women’s health.
