  • Fuchs elected fellow of American Physical Society

    Greg Fuchs, the James R. Meehl Professor in School of Applied and Engineering Physics, has been elected as fellows of the American Physical Society. The election was announced Oct. 10 by the society, and recognize physicists for exceptional achievements in research, leadership and service within the field, and significant contributions to physics education.

    Jamol Pender, associate professor, and former Ph.D. student Andrew Daw were named as finalists in the 2025 MSOM Service SIG Best Paper Award for their paper “The Co-Production of Service: Modeling Services in Contact Centers Using Hawkes Processes” (published in Management Science).

  • Two doctoral students awarded DOE fellowships

    Two Cornell Engineering doctoral student were awarded fellowships by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Pascal Caraccioli Salinas, a doctoral student in geological sciences, received the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship, and Joshua Luoma, a doctoral candidate in applied physics, received the DOE National Nuclear Security Administration Laboratory Residency Graduate Fellowship.

    Zhiting Tian, professor, has received the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Director’s Fellowship, an extremely selective award given to top performers in the DARPA Young Faculty Award pool.

  • Moridi to participate in FOE Symposium

    Atieh Moridi, assistant professor, has been selected to participate in the Grainger Foundation Frontiers of Engineering 2025 Symposium of the National Academy of Engineering. The symposium will be held September 14-17 at the University of Pennsylvania.
