Liane joined Engineering Advising and the Cornell community in 2016. She earned her B.S. in Professional and Technical Communication from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and her M.S. in Academic Advising from Kansas State University. Preceding Cornell, Liane spent five years as the Manager of Student Services, and seven years prior as a Senior Academic Advisor, both for the Computer Science Department at RIT.
Liane’s advising philosophy stems from the belief that with every advising encounter, there is an opportunity to believe in the individual in front of you, to support their discovery of personal stature, and to draw out their unique and powerful influence. With every interaction with students, there is a chance to further a dialogue that will strengthen their engagement in their future and build upon the trust they have in others and in themselves.
Liane has really enjoyed exploring Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region, taking advantage of what the area has to offer. In her free time, Liane enjoys spending time with friends and family, being a foodie, yoga, traveling, music, and muppets!
