Biography
Eowyn is an experienced Senior Data Scientist with over 10 years in data strategy, machine learning, and operational excellence across retail, finance, and renewable energy. She is known for leading data initiatives at companies like Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) and Zulily, transforming complex data into actionable business insights that drive risk reduction and growth.
Her educational background includes an M.S. and B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington and Cornell University (Summa Cum Laude), along with professional certificates in Data Science and Python Programming. Her peer-reviewed paper regarding geoengineering that was published with Cornell professor Art DeGaetano was cited by the IPCC 5th Assessment Report.
Her first career was as a renewable energy analyst. She analyzed weather data from pre-construction to post-construction wind turbines for companies including Vaisala, GE, and Goldwind. She developed skills in collaborating with executives, finance leaders, and academic institutions to integrate data-driven decision-making into strategic business initiatives. Following GE Renewables’ collapse, she enrolled in night classes via UW’s extension school to learn python programming and data science. This enabled her to begin a career in data science following her son’s birth in 2019.
