The Systems faculty and staff are looking forward to welcoming all of you to SYSEN 5920 – and back to Ithaca and Cornell University – from Sunday, August 2, 2026 to Friday, August 7, 2026. Accommodations will be at the Statler Hotel on the Cornell University campus.

About Your Stay

Accommodations

You will be staying at the The Statler Hotel at Cornell University on the Cornell Campus. If you’re not familiar with Cornell and the Ithaca area, this interactive map of Cornell and neighboring areas can help you find your way around.

Check-In

Check in is on Sunday, August 2, 2026, after 4:00 p.m. EST

Check-Out

Check out is on Friday, August 7, 2026, no later than 12:00 p.m. EST

  • Guests not checked out by the check-out time will be charged an additional night’s stay per published rates. The Systems Engineering Program will only pay for your accommodations, parking, meals, and ground transportation from check-in on Sunday, August 2, until check-out on Friday, August 7, 2026.
  • After checkout, luggage can be stored in the Dartmouth Room at the Statler Hotel until SYSEN 5920 is completed.

Extending your stay

  • Please contact Mitchell White, Statler Associate, at mew296@cornell.edu if you want to extend your stay.
  • Attendees will be responsible for paying for any additional night’s accommodations.

Parking Details

Reserve parking permits by visiting Cornell’s events parking page and clicking on “SYSEN 5920.”

  • Valet parking will not be provided, and any valet parking expenses will be your responsibility.
  • Program-provided parking is limited to the Hoy Road garage only.
  • You must print and display a parking pass in your vehicle prior to arriving on campus. You might be ticketed if you park without displaying a parking permit. Please note that we will not be responsible for any tickets or fees incurred due to failure to properly display your parking pass.

Fitness Center

  • The Statler hotel has a 24-hour fitness facility. The fitness facility is located in the lobby level and is complimentary to all guests.

Items to Consider Bringing With You

Full-room hotel accommodations will be provided, but you may find the following items helpful to bring with you:

  • If you’re like many of us who can’t sleep without their pillows, be sure to bring your pillow or other comforts of home including any toiletry items that you’ll require.
  • A laptop will be helpful for some course work.
  • Casual clothing (see photos above).
  • Sneakers for adventure campus.

Getting to Ithaca

Airports

There is one airport in Ithaca, and two in nearby surrounding areas, each about an hour away from Ithaca. Please use the links below to help plan your trip to Ithaca, but remember that we are not able to offer reimbursement for travel to and from Ithaca if you need a cab, Uber/Lyft, rental car, or other form of transportation to Ithaca.

Ithaca Transportation Services

The Statler Hotel provides shuttle service to and from the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport. This is a complimentary service that is provided for their overnight guests. Advance reservations are required and can be arranged by contacting the Statler Hotel Reservations Department.

Ithaca offers taxi, Uber and Lyft services, making it easy to get to and from the Ithaca airport. Unfortunately, we can’t provide services or reimbursement for transportation to and from airports.
